The Life of the Church

Communication Clarification

·        On Friday, we send out the weekly newsletter with a note from Pastor Chelsea, info for Sunday including the focus scripture, the prayer list, and a link to the full bulletin announcements. We can attach the bulletin there for those who are worshipping with us online. If you are not receiving this email, please check your spam folders, then talk with Lisa.

·        Also on Friday, Lisa sends out an email titled “Worship Role Reminder.” If you are receiving this email, it is because you have a role in worship that Sunday. Open the email and read the body to find out what your role is that week.

·        Lisa no longer sends a blast email with the bulletin, in order to streamline communication and to ensure that our weekly leaders see and read the weekly “Worship Role Reminder” email.

·        In case of worship cancellation due to inclement weather, FPC will send out a text, email, and post to our Facebook page. If you would like to sign up to receive the text, use the phone you wish to receive texts on and text “fpc” to 270-200-8560. You will automatically be signed up for texts. Let Pastor Chelsea know if you have questions. A test text was sent out to the current group on Sunday, January 7, around 9:40 am. If you did not receive this text, talk to Chelsea.

Thank you to all our Christmas Eve greeters, musicians, worshippers, pageant participants, readers, and everyone else who helped bring us a wonderful day of worship!  And THANK YOU to our Christmas elves! In December, twenty plus FPC elves donated more than 65 dozen cookies (including brownies and a variety of nut clusters) for Helmwood Health Care Center.

Do you think no one should have to sit alone in church their first Sunday?  Do you believe relationships are important when attracting and integrating guests?  If you answered “yes,” please consider becoming a shepherd or shepherd family.   Shepherd families/people are those who are willing to make first time guests feel welcome by greeting them and sitting with them, if the guest desires not to be alone.  They might also introduce them to others close by.  Training will be provided on what to say how to ask if the guest wants company and what to talk about.  Talk to Pastor Chelsea if you feel called to this very important ministry. Training will be in February.

Book Club interest meeting—If you’re interested in reading and processing wonderful books focused on spirituality, theology, etc., come to an interest meeting on Sunday, January 28, after worship! Find Lin Linder and gather in the Fireside Room.
