The Life of the Church

Alphabet of Gratitude—This November, we practice gratitude together using the alphabet! Materials for all ages are available in the lobby, and we will also share access via email. Bring completed books to church at the end of November for a special prize!

In worship next Sunday, Nov. 12th, we invite you to submit your stewardship pledge for 2024. A pledge is an estimate of how much you think you will give financially to the church in the year ahead. Pledge cards are available in the pew racks, on the table in the lobby, and you can also pledge online.

The Second Half Architects Group is off to a great start, and new members are welcome at any time! So far they have covered Chapter 1 of From Strength to Strength, discussing our successes and experiences of life so far and things we think about for the future. We discussed the unavoidable declines of some skills and improvements of others over time.

The next meeting is Tuesday, November 7, at 6:00 pm at Water’s Edge Winery. Please read Chapter 2 (The Second Curve) and think about these concepts for discussion: fluid intelligence and crystallized intelligence.

On Thanksgiving Day, area churches and Helping Hand of Hope are co-sponsoring a Thanksgiving Dinner to be hosted at St. James School. This meal is available to those who are unable to prepare a meal of their own. If you would like to have a meal, contact Helping Hand of Hope at 270-769-3092. Delivery and carryout are available. The cutoff date is November 20, 2023. If you would like to volunteer your time for preparation, serving, or meal delivering sign up via 270-268-6246. First Presbyterian Church is responsible for 16 turkeys and 25 pies. Turkeys are $35 and pies are $6. We are collecting money to purchase these. The last day to give will be November 16, 2023.
