We share the sad news of the death of FPC member Elizabeth Cross, who died this Wednesday. The funeral is at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, at First Christian Church of Elizabethtown, 1811 N. Miles Street. Burial follows in North Hardin Memorial Gardens in Radcliff. Visitation is from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday and continues at noon Monday at First Christian.

Lenten Soup Lunches will be offered by various groups at FPC during the six Sundays of Lent. A simple meal of soup and bread will be offered during the regular after-worship refreshment time.

These lunches will provide us the opportunity to remember those who go without on a regular basis.

Our Youth Group Kickoff is coming on Sunday, March 5! Youth group is for youth in 5th -12th grades. We will meet every other Sunday from 5-7 pm at the church. You can be part of this new and exciting ministry by praying for our youth group, serving as an occasional adult presence as part of the youth group team, or by providing dinner for the group. A sign-up sheet for providing dinner is in the Fellowship Hall.

THANK YOU to everyone who contributed to our Souper Bowl of Caring drive, and special thanks to our young people for their leadership of this project! They raised $3100 and 146 non-perishable food and hygiene items to benefit the food pantries at ECTC that are impacting students’ lives who utilize the services at The Lunch Box and The Family Scholar House Pantry. Family Scholar House not only stocks food, but also household items and professional clothing to assist students in the workplace.

THANK YOU to everyone who filled out a connection card in the month of January! Thanks to you, we are more connected, and we impacted our local community through donations to:

-Warm Blessings $100

-Community Health Clinic $25

-Silverleaf Sexual Trauma Recovery Services $70

-CASA of the Heartland $80

Mission Opportunity: Through our Affordable Housing Coalition, we are building up a partnership with Hardin County Habitat for Humanity. We can partner with them now as they prepare to receive 4 different college volunteer groups in the coming weeks. Dinners are needed to feed these wonderful young people who are spending their college break helping others in need by working on Habitat’s current houses in progress.

If you’d like to be a part of meeting this need, dinners would need to be for around 10 people and ready by 5:30 or 6 for the evenings listed below. You can host the group at your house or at FPC, or the dinner can be dropped off at Wesley Hilltop House, where the groups will be staying while they are here.
