Mary Elizabeth (Mary Beth) Hancock McCandless is Ministry Coordinator for Families for First Presbyterian Church of Elizabethtown, KY. Mary Beth grew up in Kentucky and is grateful to have found her way back to Elizabethtown after years of ministry in other locations.
In addition to working 30 hours per week with the church, Mary Beth is an Elder and serves as the church's Clerk of Session. She also is a half-time student at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary; working toward a Master of Divinity with hopes of graduating in May or December of 2014. Mary Beth is a graduate of Elizabethtown High School and Western Kentucky University where she earned a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. She is a lifelong learner who has taken advantage of educational opportunities throughout her working life. In addition to many jobs in service oriented professions, she has served inthe areas of music and worship ministry, Christian education and pastoral ministry in a variety of ministry settings in Kentucky, Indiana and Colorado. She has also served as a workshop facilitator and speaker. An "official" Presbyterian since 2006, Mary Beth has had the sense that she's always "been" Presbyterian.  Mary Beth has been married 23 years to Murray McCandless. With home base in Elizabethtown, Murray is a licensed Realtor and Benefit Auctioneer Specialist with Progressive Real Estate Groups at Coldwell Banker in Bowling Green, KY. Mary Beth and Murray are parents of twin teenagers - a girl and a boy - Hannah and Jesse. Both are confirmed members of First Presbyterian Church.
